Jalapeño Vinegar

Follow these simple instructions to create your own jalapeño vinegar at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 5-7 large jalapeños
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 20 peeled green or red peppercorns, or other chilis of your preferation
  • 1 tbsp salt 
  • 1,5 cup white vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Make a one-inch slice from the bottom up into each jalapeño and place them into a one-pint jar with the garlic, peppercorns, and salt.
  • Bring the vinegar to a boil and pour it into the jar, ensuring the peppers are covered.
  • Allow it to cool for an hour. Cover and store in a cool, dark place out of direct sunlight. The vinegar will be ready for use in 24 hours, improving over the course of about 8 months.
